Boy Scouts of America Prepared for Life

BSA Troop 429

Troop 429 offers a year-round adventure-based program designed to offer and encourage effective character, citizenship, and fitness training for boys and girls age 11-17.

In addition to camping, Scouts and adult leaders enjoy activities such as rock-climbing and rappelling, canoeing, target-shooting, visits to military bases, and more while accommodating the needs of today’s busy families.

Our Troop’s History

Troop 429 was founded in 1967 and has continually provided life skills training, outdoor adventures and leadership development to Scouts in the Martinez and Concord areas. We have a rich tradition of Scout Rank Advancement with over 50 Eagle Scouts. Troop 429 also has a strong tradition in Scout Skill Competitions winning numerous camping, District and Council Awards.

Scouting Events

Troop meetings are held every Monday at 7pm at Morello Hills Christian Church.

During the school year we also have monthly outings including camping, hiking, and service projects. Each month’s theme revolves around Advancement and Merit Badge completion. Summer adventures tend to be much more exciting! These can include week long BSA camps, special Troop 429 campouts, or high adventure outings (such as canoeing, kayaking, skiing, horseback riding, and more!)

Merit Badges

Merit badges are awards earned by youth members of the Scouts BSA, based on activities within an area of study by completing a list of periodically updated requirements. The purpose of the merit badge program is to allow Scouts to examine subjects to determine if they would like to further pursue them as a career or a vocation.
